A wooden swing standing in the shallows on the west shore, and the twenty minutes when the light is worth it.
Several of the beach bars along the west shore have planted swings and daybeds out in the shallow water, a few steps off the sand. They are free to use if you are having a drink, and they are the reason half the photographs of this island look the way they do.
Go about an hour before sunset. Low tide puts the water around your ankles and the swing above it; high tide puts you in it, which is more fun and worse for cameras. Then stay for the sun going down behind Gili Meno and, on a clear evening, Bali's Mount Agung behind that.
Good to know. Free to use if you are having a drink at the bar. Best in the hour before sunset, and check the tide — low tide is the dry version, high tide is the wet one.
