Corporate social responsibilityAn eco hotel,
An eco hotel,
honestly stated
Nature is the foundation of everything we do — which obliges us to be specific rather than decorative about it.
What we do
- No single-use plastic bottles. Filtered drinking water in every room and refill stations across the property.
- Local sourcing. Fish from the harbour, produce from Lombok, and a plant-based option on every part of the menu.
- Local materials. Timber, stone, bamboo and thatch, worked by craftspeople from Lombok.
- Water. Low-flow fittings, linen changed on request rather than daily, and greywater to the garden.
- Waste. Organic waste composted on site and returned to the garden; separation for everything else.
- Employment. Our team is hired from Gili Air and North Lombok, and trained here.
What we ask of guests
- Reef-safe sunscreen, or a rash vest instead.
- Refill rather than buy bottled water.
- Air conditioning off when you leave the room — the ceiling fan is usually enough.
- Three metres from any turtle, and nothing touched on the reef.
What we have not solved
Plastic washes onto Gili Air’s beaches with the current, particularly in the wet season. Guests notice it and mention it in reviews, and they are right to. We run beach cleans and we support the island-wide effort, but this is a regional problem that no single hotel fixes alone.
Energy is the other honest gap. The island grid is fossil-fuelled. We are assessing solar for the roofs that can carry it.
Prototype note. This page is drafted from KOHO’s stated eco-hotel positioning. Replace the specifics with your actual measures, and add any certifications you hold.
