How much does a trip to Gili Air cost?

A realistic budget: the boat over, a night in each of our six room types, food and drink, and what booking direct actually saves you.
There is no official price list for a trip like this, because it depends on which room and how much you eat out versus in. Here is what it actually adds up to, line by line, so you can build your own number instead of guessing at ours.
In this guide
The four line items
Four things decide the total: the boat over, the room, the food, and however many excursions you add on top. Gili Air itself does not carry the hidden costs some destinations do — there is no entry fee and no tourist tax stacked on at the harbour. What actually moves the number is which room you book and how much of the island you want guided rather than self-directed.
Getting there
Budget roughly $20–35 one way for the fast boat from Padang Bai or Bangsal, more from Serangan's longer charter route. Fares shift with the operator, the season and fuel prices, so treat any figure here as a planning range rather than a quote, and confirm the current fare before you travel. From Lombok airport, add a 60–75 minute road transfer to Bangsal harbour before the boat. See our full route breakdown for all three ways in and what each one costs in hours.
Where you sleep — six room types, one island
Rates run from roughly €55 a night for the entry-level Standard Room up to €270 for the Private Villa with its own plunge pool, moving with the season in between. The Studio Room (€75–170) is our most-booked room for couples on a longer stay; the Superior Room (€90–190) adds a daybed and more space. See the full rate table for all six room types side by side.
Food and drink
Off the property, a warung meal typically runs $3–6. On it, breakfast is included with every direct booking, and lunch or dinner from our menus generally lands somewhere between $10 and $20 a plate, with wine and cocktails on top. There is no minimum spend and no requirement to eat every meal at the hotel — the island has its own small string of beachfront cafés if you want a change of scene.
Experiences: what's free, what isn't
Some of what fills a Gili Air day costs nothing: cycling the ring road, watching the sunset from the point, walking to the harbour to watch the boats come in. Guided experiences — diving, the manta ray trip, the hammerhead dive off Lombok, day trips into the highlands — are priced per boat or per group rather than per island, so costs vary with season and group size. Browse the full list on our experiences page or ask us directly for current rates before you book.
Two sample trips
Five nights in a Standard Room, self-catering most lunches at a warung and eating on the property three evenings, with one guided snorkel trip, comes in well under what most people expect for a private-pool tropical island. The same five nights in the Private Villa, dining on the property throughout and adding a dive day, sits at the other end — still without the transport and activity markups that OTA package deals often bury in the headline price.
What booking direct actually changes
Booking direct through book.html means the rate you see is the rate you pay, breakfast included as standard, with no OTA service fee added on top of the room rate. If you are weighing this trip against the same stay booked through a listing site, that difference is usually the first thing worth checking — work out how many nights you actually want first, then price it both ways.
