Gili Air is a small 5 km island located off the north west coast of Lombok, Indonesia. It's part of three peanut sized islands known as "the Gili Islands".
Gili Air means small water island in the local Sasak language. "Gili" is "small island" and "Air" means "water". It was named because it's the only island out of the three Gilis which has a natural source of fresh water. It's the closest island to Lombok, and is considered to be the “medium” island.
Our hotel is designed for adult guests and does not provide child-friendly facilities. For safety and comfort, we only accommodate guests aged 14 and above, our sincere apologies.
Gili Air is governed to Lombok religious beliefs which is Islam.
There is a Mosque on Gili Air that is operating for the local population.
You will hear the Muezzin all aroung Gili at the prayer times. This is part of the Indonesian culture but we can understand that it can be disturbing at night. We recommend to bring earplugs to anticipate the possible discomfort you might encounter.
If you're not swimming or sunbathing, we strongly recommend not to walk in bikinis (for ladies) / without a T-shirt (for gentlemen). Let's respect religion and beautiful local community.
Gili Islands are free of any vehicles or motorbikes. The best way to explore - to hire bicycle or to walk. In case you have heavy luggage there are Cidomos (horse-drawn carts).
From plump roosters and chickens dashing all over the roads to cows, goats and cats; healthy, happy cats are literally everywhere! If you love visiting cat cafes, then come to Gili Air; it’s a cat island! No dogs are allowed on any of the Gili islands.
We sure do. Any request for 5 rooms or more is considered as a group booking. Contact our Front Desk via WhatsApp on +6281236762669 to make your booking as different rates and policies would apply.
Gili Islands are very safe, but still be conscious about your personal belongings.
We offer a “a la Carte” selection of dishes for breakfast (7:30am-11:00am), lunch and dinner. Local cuisine as well as western dishes are in the menu and available all day from 7:30 until 10:00 pm.
You can enjoy your breakfast wherever you want inside the hotel, either in your room or around the pool. Removable trays on stand will be set up for you wherever you feel most comfortable.
We offer All-day room service during the restaurant opening hours without any surcharge.
All bedrooms are non-smoking. We kindly ask you to not smoke inside the room. Smoking is only allowed on in social areas around the pool and at the bar.
We havent heard of any Dengue fever case for the last 10 years on Gili Air.
Pets are not allowed at The KOHO Air Hotel.
All our rooms are equipped with a safety box.
Should you lose your room key, kindly notify our Front Desk Team immediately to guarantee your security.
We offer FREE Wi-Fi in all public areas and rooms of the resort.
The speed and quality are in general very reliable. We are in Gili Air, and we sometimes experience slow Internet, which is totally out of our control. The local providers aren’t as top notch as they can be in Western countries.

Frequently asked questions
To get to Gili Air Island you will need to take speed boat. There are 2 harbours in Bali handing fast boats to Gili: Serangan Harbour and Padang Bai Harbour.
From Serangan Harbour we would recommend Gili Getaway Fast Boat company. Approximate duration of a boat trip is 4 hours.
Boats operate multiple times every day either from Padangbai, Amed. Approximate duration of a trip 1,5-2,5 hours (depends on the size of a boat, weather and current).
To get to Gili Air Island you will need to take public or speed boat. There is 1 main harbour in Lombok: Bangsal Lombok (2-3 hours with the car from Lombok International Airport).
Boats operate multiple times every day. The last boat departure time is 5PM. Contact the hotel if you would like to organise a time.
The KOHO Air Hotel is located 5 minutes walking distance from the harbour. In case you have heavy luggage to carry, we recommend to hire a Cidomo (horse-drawn cart).
Although Gili Air is a small island where you can enjoy long walk or even morning jogging around the Island (only an hour walk), we offer bike rental.
There are several dive centres on Gili Air. The coral reef off the east coast provides great snorkelling opportunities – just like the other Gilis, you're bound to see a clown fish or two, and there’s a good chance you’ll spot turtles. On the western side, you’ll find unspoilt white sandy beaches and little else.
The northern and southern sides of the island are lined with plenty of beach bars and restaurants. You can see one of the most beautiful sunsets sitting right on the beach. In terms of nightlife, there's more of a laidback, chill-out-style bar culture, and though there are places you can go to dance, clubbing is not a priority for Gili Air-goers. Full moon parties do take place here each month.

There are lots of places on Gili Air accepting payments only by cash.
There are several ATM and currency exchange offices.
ATM (Mandiri Bank) is located on the main street just one minute walk from the harbour (on the way to our hotel), but it sometimes runs out of cash due its close location to the harbour. Another ATM is located only 6 to 7 minutes from the Hotel and all types of credit cards are accepted and is less busy.
We use the exchange rate based on the official daily-published rate, which we take from www.xe.com, The World's Trusted Currency Authority.

In Bali and Indonesia you can expect the 2-pin socket and plug as used in larger parts of Europe. The pins are round, not flat or rectangular.
You will need an Adapter if you come from Australia, Japan, USA, Malaysia, UK, Canada, Singapore, and some countries in Africa, you will most likely simply need a plug adapter otherwise the plugs for your electrical appliances will not fit into the "Bali Socket", although the voltage should be o.k.
We do have a few that we can lend for free, but we recommend that you bring your own anyway.
The standard used in Indonesia is a two-pin plug (round) - Voltage 230 V - Frequency 50 Hz - Power sockets type C/F

"Gecko" is the common name for any of about 65 species of small lizards. They are unique among lizards in their ability to make chirping or clicking sounds. The name "gecko" is a derivative of a Malay word that is an imitation of a lizard's call.
These little house geckos are great little exterminators. They are worth having around. Here are a few facts for you
- Geckos are a very common occurrence under the tropics; as much as spiders are in our Western houses
- Geckos are predators of pest insects and spiders as well, which is why they are so useful
- The vast majority of the time, they stay on the ceiling or on the highest part of the walls, close to the ceiling
- They won't die in your room, nor will it hang around long if it isn't finding bugs and mosquitoes to eat
- If by chance you should find it on your bed, it isn't going to stay, nor do they like to snuggle with humans and they certainly don't approach humans on purpose
- They are extremely unlikely to want to share your bed with you and will never bother you while sleeping
– These critters are a never ever a nuisance to humans unless you think of them as such
- We ask you not to try to harm them, as they are totally harmless to you
- Try to accept them as part of the typical, tropical "landscape"
