The staff at The KOHO Air Hotel: what guests actually say
Home · Journal · The staff at The KOHO Air Hotel: what guests actually say
We would obviously say our team is wonderful. Here is what guests say, unprompted, across TripAdvisor and Google.
Ask a hotel about its own staff and you will get a marketing answer. So instead of writing this one ourselves, we read through what guests actually say across Tripadvisor, Google and Booking.com when nobody at the hotel is in the room.

What comes up again and again
The single most repeated observation, in one form or another, across more than a thousand verified reviews: the team remembers names. Guests describe being greeted by name from the second morning onward, on a property with no check-in kiosk and no scripted small talk to fall back on.
Close behind it is a phrase several reviewers land on independently — a “family” feeling. Attentive without being intrusive, warm without performing warmth. It shows up often enough, from guests who never met each other, that it stopped reading like coincidence a long time ago.
In their own words
“The location is excellent — close to everything yet still peaceful. The staff were wonderful,” wrote Karina on Booking.com. “This is a boutique hotel in a perfect location on Gili Air. The staff cannot do enough for you,” added a Tripadvisor reviewer under the name bigworld123. One verified guest put it more simply on the room reviews for our Private Villa: “They remembered our names by the second morning.”
These are three among many, and we have deliberately picked ordinary lines rather than the most effusive ones — the pattern is more convincing than any single review.
The people guests name specifically
Dicky, the general manager, comes up repeatedly and specifically — reviewers call out the way the property is run day to day under him, not just that it runs well. One review singled out a team member named Marwan for going out of his way during a stay. Breakfast service gets called out on its own often enough that it is clearly not an accident of one particularly good week.
The small, unglamorous things
Not grand gestures — guests mention staff arranging bike hire, sorting laundry, walking someone to the harbour with their bags, and generally being useful about the small logistics of an island with no cars and no reception desk that can just point at a taxi rank. It is the kind of help that only shows up in reviews because it actually happened, not because anyone was told to offer it in a training manual.
Why this matters more on a small property
Twenty-eight rooms means the same handful of people see you at breakfast, at the pool and at reception, every day of your stay. That repetition is what makes “they remembered our name” possible at all — it is very hard to fake on a 400-room resort with rotating shifts, and much harder to hide from on one this size if it were not genuinely true of the team.
Read it yourself
We have deliberately kept this page short on cherry-picked quotes for the same reason — go read the reviews directly on our reviews page, which links out to Tripadvisor, Google, Booking.com, Hotels.com, Airbnb and Facebook rather than curating a highlight reel for you.
